Acer Laptop - SIMO Mode Getting Started

When SIMO is Selected as SIM Mode

• The Acer laptop allows users to purchased and manage SIMO data plans to access the internet.
• Users can view their SIMO account and data plan status directly on the home screen of the SIMO Windows App.
• Acer laptop users can purchase and manage their data plans by selecting "Manage SIMO Account" and accessing the embedded SIMO portal through the Windows App.
• Users can also access customer support through the embedded interface or the homepage of the Windows App.

Getting Started

1. Select 'SIMO' as the cellular data and wait for SIMO to connect to 100%

2. Once connected, you will need to sign-up for a SIMO account by selecting 'Sign Up Now'. You will be directed to the SIMO portal to compete registration.

3. Once you have registered for an account, you may purchase data plan on the SIMO portal and manage your account by selecting 'Manage SIMO Account'.

Device Information Page

• Users should find device related information from 'Device Information' page
  • Device SN (SIMO) is the device serial number from SIMO. 

SignalScan Function

• SignalScan function is displayed on the homepage of the SIMO App. It is exclusively available for SIMO mode.
• When SIMO mode is selected, users can initiate an automatic carrier switch by clicking on 'SignalScan'. Upon selecting 'Activate SignalScan', a confirmation popup appears, prompting users to confirm.

• If eSIM or Physical SIM is selected and the users attempt to activate 'SignalScan', a popup will appear instructing the user to switch to 'SIMO' mode to enable this function.
  • Clicking 'Switch' will attempt to change to 'SIMO' mode automatically.

Settings

• Users can access the 'Settings page by selecting 'Settings' from the left navigation bar.
• Currently, the Settings page includes two primary functionalities:
  • Network Selection Function - Details provided in screenshot below.
  • Auto-switch to SIMO Function - Details provided in screenshot below.

Firmware Update Notification

• Firmware updates for Acer laptops are released periodically to enhance performance, fix issues, and improve security. To stay informed about the latest updates, regularly check the Acer Support website or use the Acer Care Center application on your laptop, which can notify you when new firmware updates are available.
• Users will be notified firmware updates through the alert banner which will be displayed at the top of the main home page.

Meter Connection Notification

• Users will be notified that the meter connection for SIMO is 'On/Off' though the alert banner which will be displayed at the top of the main home page.
• Enabling 'Meter Connection' will help conserve the user's data.
