What is firmware?

Firmware is the software built into your SIMO hotspot that allows the device to perform its core functions, such as connecting to the internet, managing network settings, and running smart features.

Without firmware, your hotspot would only be hardware without the software needed to operate.

Why should I update my firmware?

At SIMO, we continuously improve our products to provide a better and more reliable user experience. Firmware updates include software improvements, performance enhancements, bug fixes, and new features.

Keeping your hotspot updated ensures that your device is running the latest version and performing at its best.

How do I update my firmware?

When a new firmware version is available, your SIMO hotspot will automatically download the update over the air (OTA).

The update process varies depending on your hotspot model.

For Solis Lite and Solis Hero

How the firmware update works

The firmware update will download automatically while your hotspot is powered on and connected to the internet. The installation will begin after the device is powered off.

Follow these steps to complete the update:

1. Plug your Solis Lite or Solis Hero hotspot into a power source.
2. Turn on the hotspot.
3. Wait approximately 10 minutes for the firmware update to begin downloading.
4. Keep the device powered on for at least 30 minutes to allow the download to complete.
5. Turn off the hotspot.

Once the hotspot is powered off, the firmware installation will start automatically.

During installation:

• The three indicator lights will flash red continuously.
• The installation process takes approximately 3–5 minutes.
• Once the update is complete, the hotspot will turn off automatically.

How to check your firmware version

To check your current firmware version:

1. Turn on your hotspot.
2. Connect your phone to the hotspot WiFi network.
3. Open the Solis WiFi App.
4. Go to Account.
5. Select Manage Hotspot.

For Solis 5G and Acer M3

Solis 5G and Acer M3 support two types of firmware updates:

Mandatory Firmware Updates

• The firmware update will automatically download when the device is powered on and connected to the internet.
• After the download is complete, the installation will begin only when the hotspot is powered off.

Non-Mandatory Firmware Updates

• The update will not download or install automatically.
• You can manually download and install the update through the device settings.

How to Check Your Firmware Version

To view your firmware information:

1. Open the Menu page.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Device Info.

On this page, you can view:

• Device serial number
• Current firmware version
• Available firmware updates
