What Affects My SIMO Connection Performance?

Follow

SIMO provides access to multiple mobile carrier networks, automatically connecting your device to the best available network based on your location and coverage. While this helps maximize reliability and coverage, SIMO does not own or operate the underlying cellular networks.

Your connection speed and overall performance may vary depending on several factors.

Factors That Can Affect Your Connection

Cellular Coverage

The strength and availability of the local cellular network have the greatest impact on your connection. Areas with weak coverage may experience slower speeds or intermittent connectivity.

Network Congestion

Network performance may decrease during periods of high traffic, such as in airports, stadiums, concerts, or other crowded locations where many users are connected to the same cellular network.

Your Location

Signal strength can vary depending on your surroundings. Performance may be reduced in:

  • Rural or remote areas
  • Underground locations
  • Large buildings
  • Mountainous or heavily wooded areas

Weather and Environmental Conditions

Severe weather, natural obstacles, or temporary outages affecting local cellular infrastructure may impact network availability and performance.

Device Compatibility

Different devices support different cellular technologies and frequency bands. Devices equipped with newer LTE or 5G modems generally provide better performance than older models.

Device Settings

Certain settings may affect your connection, including:

  • Battery Saver or Power Saving mode
  • Outdated firmware
  • Incorrect network settings
  • Background applications consuming bandwidth

Wi-Fi Performance (Hotspot Devices)

If you're using a SIMO hotspot, your Wi-Fi experience may also be affected by:

  • Distance from the hotspot
  • Walls or other physical obstacles
  • Interference from nearby wireless devices

Tips to Improve Your Connection

For the best possible experience:

  • Use your hotspot near a window or in an open area whenever possible.
  • Keep your device firmware up to date.
  • Stay within a reasonable distance of your hotspot.
  • Restart your SIMO device if you experience slow or inconsistent performance.
  • Avoid heavily congested areas whenever possible.
  • If signal quality is poor, move to a different location and allow your device a few moments to reconnect to the strongest available network.
