3G Network Shutdown

Follow

Across the industry, wireless carriers have begun the process of shutting down their 3G networks to pave the way for more advanced 5G networks. As carriers work to improve coverage and provide faster performance, technology rooted in 3G will eventually become inoperable.

While Skyroam’s original Solis hotspot connects to 4G networks, the technology to initiate that connection relies on 3G. If you're a Skyroam Solis user and you're in a location that only supports the 3G network, your Skyroam Solis hotspot will experience trouble connecting online. Your Skyroam Solis hotspot will only work in locations that supports 3G.

In order to stay connected to Solis’ vast network, we recommend Skyroam Solis users to upgrade their hotspot before July 1st, 2022. After which, your Skyroam Solis will eventually become unusable. Don’t stress though, in order to provide our customers with the best possible solution, we are offering a unique upgrade option.

If you are eligible for an upgrade, you'll receive an email with purchasing information.

Why Solis 1 doesn't connect in a location that connected well in the past?

if your Solis 1 is not connecting in a location that previously connected in, it's likely caused by the 3G deprecation by wireless carrier. When was this new and update announced?

At the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022, many wireless carriers have announced their plan to retire the 3G network by the end of 2022 and onward.
